In a recent posting to this list, an individual asked if there was a place
for watching shore birds that was available from a car.

I did not see any response but would be interested in knowing of other
sites that those who are limited to being in a car can still make good
birding observations.

While in Washington state about 6 weeks ago we stumbled across the beaches
south of Ocean Shores. We saw a number of cars moving up and down the
beach for several miles and so decided to join them and were able to watch
some shore birds (waders and peeps) from our car. This was our only visit
there and don't know if tides and time were just fortunate for us, or if
car access to the beach is possible at other times.

Would be interested if locals could expound on the posibility of seeing
shore birds there and concerns about driving in the sand on the beach.

I am making a universal list of places accessible by car or wheelchair for
birders. Would be interested in knowing about paved paths through parks,
boardwalks over swampy areas etc. This info would also be of interest to
young families which have to push strollers or for older family members who
cannot walk long distances but still interested in birds.

If you know of potential spots, write me personally, and I will gather
them together and post them to the list if there is interest.
