The following is a report on a trip taken from April 10th - April 17th. As
many of you know, Texas is one large state. We had decided beforehand that
we were not going to try to cover it poorly in a weeks time. Instead we
were aiming to see some new territory and look specifically at the Piney
Woods and some areas of the Edwards Plateau. All in all a smart choice
looking back in retrospect. The main birding spots we hit were:
High Island/Anahuac (1), Sabine's Woods (2) , Bolivar Flats (3), Big
Thicket (4) Jones State Forest (5) and Lost Maples (6). For species seen
in many locations I will use a (m) for many locations. Here's the list of
the species seen and the general area where they were sighted. If anyone
would like more specific information please let me know.
