David and Tweeters,

A few years ago while I was living in Eugene and birding extensively
around the Willamette Valley, Ducks Unlimited was responsible for
constructing a large pond in a former farm field on Ankeny NWR near
Albany. This was of course primarily waterfowl habitat but after the
hunting season the pond drained a bit (either naturally or by human
means I don't know) and shorebirds began to utilize it. One May evening
a beautiful Hudsonian Godwit appeared.

Just a quick example of the "right" thing as done by DU.
