Ducks Unlimited is an example of the coalition approach to conservation.
Lately
Audubon, Nature Conservancy, and Ducks Unlimited have been working on projects
together. I did become a member for a year and tried to keep up on their
magazine. I was very disappointed and surprised when they had an article
describing owls and hawks as being detrimental to the duck population. So
perhaps we could help their understanding of prey/predator relationships. But
basically I do support DU and consider them an important part of the
conservation effort. If you haven't read Peter Steinhart's Tracks Across the
Sky, he has some excellent essays of the role of duck hunters to save the
wetlands.
