A follow-up on the Saturday Tillamook trip for those who have commitments
later on Saturday as I have had several inquiries:

I do not know what time the trip will end. The past two years I have led
the trip, the tide has been incoming as we returned from the hike. This
Saturday, if I am reading the time tables correctly, the tide will be coming
in when we ARRIVE. Therefore, if there are shorebirds to look at, we will
see them in the first hour to 90 minutes as the tide comes in. I intend to
dawdle in this first hour or so as the shorebird viewing, if not
spectacular, can be very instructive for the remainder of the fall. Then,
we'll proceed around the spit going up the beach side first, and then back
down and around.

Thus, someone with commitments later in the day might consider showing up
for the first couple of hours, and then not proceeding around the spit.
Some of the carpooling from Portland will be dictated by this fact as well.
