It's called GOOSE BLOCKER(TM), is manufactured for Percision
Laboratories, Inc. of Northbrook, IL, is advertised as a goose repellent,
it's active ingredient is methyl anthranilate which the manufacturer
states is derived from the byproduct of concord grape processing and when
you smell it, and you will smell it even before the container is opened,
you will have no doubt about it's origins. The label recommends spray
application rates of from one to eight gallons of product in 30 to 60
gallons of water per acre and it's necessary to reapply every couple of
weeks during the irrigation/mowing season. At the lower application
rates geese of all kinds seemed unfazed by it after a week or two at this
location, even after reapplication, although I've read an endorsement
that states that the Washington State Parks Department had good results
at Chief Timothy SP at Clarkston. I don't know what application rate
they used or how often they retreated. I do know that it costs $65. per
gallon and so, with a potential per acre per application cost of $520. it
highly unlikely that you're going to see this product gaining wide usage
on public park lawns to repell geese. It's a budget buster. A couple of
trained Australian Shepherds would be a lot cheaper and more fun too. ;-}
