Columbia Estuary Report - 8/8/1999

Steve Warner reports CLARK'S GREBE and SURF BIRDS from Seaside Cove this week.

A nice little movement of hummingbirds was observed coming in off the ocean
on Saturday from the jetty at SJCR. WESTERN and LEAST SANDPIPERS were
on the
shorebird ponds. A likely PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen there on Tuesday.

A KILLDER, 4 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 4 LESSER YELLOWLEGS and 3 LEAST SANDPIPERS
were in the wetlands near the Skipannon River in Warrenton. A white GREYLAG
was with CANADA GEESE at Wireless Rd.

In reproductive news, a juv BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD was being fed by RED-WING
BLACKBIRDS at the Neawanna Wetlands on Thursday. Later that morning at least
3 juv cowbirds were in a flock of 15 Red-wings. A pure flock of juv cowbirds
was on Wireless Rd. Friday.
