Hi Tweets,

On Sunday, Cindy Sprecher and I finally saw a White-tailed Ptarmigan, near
the Freemont Lookout (above Sunrise on Mt Rainier). It was a hen, partially
molted into winter plumage. We watched the bird from a distance of about 10
m, as it selected seeds or bugs from the grass growing near the edge of a
large snowfield. We were not able to find any chicks.

The trail up to the lookout was free of snow and very scenic. Some other
birds observed were:

Blue Grouse
Townsand's Solitaire
American Pipit
Northern Raven
Red-tailed Hawk
Mountain Bluebird
Clark's Nutcracker
Chipping Sparrow

Also, many Pica, and Hoary Marmots, several Elk, and great wildflowers.

Anyway, thanks to the many Tweeters who responded to my request for
information about 'Los pollos diablos'
