Today, while visiting the Old Fishing Hole in Kent, I had the most wonderful
sighting of a green heron. It was poking around in the weeds on the south
end of the pond and flew away at our approach.However, it came back a few
minutes later and landed near where I was waiting for my niece to return
from walking around the pond. I moved closer not expecting to see it, only
to find it only five feet away from me. It stayed near me for almost ten
minutes then returned to the south side where it stayed the better part of
20 minutes before we left. Wow! This was only the second time I've seen a
green heron and what a sighting!
