The leader is a veternarian who claims to understand science,
and therefore understands that evolution is "junk science".
He trotted out a handful of the lies promulgated by the
Institute for Creation Research as his basis for claiming
he understands more about biology than do biologists (which
is what claims of superior judgement regarding evolution
amount to)

According to the original newspaper piece, they were considering
banning origins of the universe teachings as well, i.e.
cosmology, though of course astronomy and cosmology aren't
courses taken by many high schoolers anyway, even outside of
Kansas.
