I suppose almost every angle of this discussion has already been covered by
tweeters but I have to add my 2 cents worth. What I find particularly sad is
that the creationists are making all this fuss and not even achieving what
they are setting out to do. They want to keep their children safe from ideas
that may challenge their beliefs (at least this is their expressed wish. I
think it's more to protect themselves.) But the world is full of people,
even other Christians, who do not believe as they do. Their children will be
surrounded by these ideas all their life. If their faith is so delicate that
teaching evolution will shake it, even if evolution isn't taught in school,
something will come along and snatch that faith away.
Besides, there's nothing so tempting as forbidden fruit...or knowledge.
I am a Christian myself but my faith is not based on the literal
interpretation of the bible but in my personal experience of God. I don't
care what method God used to make the world; I'm just glad that He did. It's
a beautiful world and I love it and all the birds too (there, that's my bird
reference.)
(Oh, dear, who's going to flame me now?)

When asked why she was always so cheerful,
the old woman replied,
"Well, I just wear this world as a loose garment."
