I read/heard that at one time somebody estimated something like 700 TONS of
dog droppings on New York streets DAILY finally forced a leash/scoop law -
WA was late in getting one and made me very happy. My big beast never got
out of our fenced yard, but I was cleaning the shrubs, sidewalk, and curb
for years from my "good neighbors' " dogs - and replanting some shrubs
that were killed by overdoses of dog urine from other "good neighbors' "
dogs that *were* on leashes and being walked, even our rains didn't help
that much.

In cities where the streets are not washed (with rain) as regularly as
these in the PNW - pigeon droppings are a real problem - healthwise - not
just unsightly.
