Hi Deborah:

I did read the reason once, don't have a reference, and can't recall it
exactly. However, the reason was along the lines that honey is impure. Now,
memory fails but the honey is contaminated with bacteria or molds, or the
honey ferments in the gut of the hummer. In any case, for lack of a good
reason to use honey, it is best to avoid it.
