I have, much to my surprise, a bumblebee hive in a storage room
underneath my house. They built it on the floor and it's quite
a site. I have to get rid of it eventually. They are fine for
the time being, as I don't need the room desperately at the
moment, but I was thinking of shovelling it out on
some cold winter night. (if i get stung , i blow up like a balloon)

My understanding is that everone of them will die in the fall except
the queen who, if she stays in this place, will retain a few cells
of workers and honey for the spring, and winter over.

They must go this winter. Is there anyone who might be interested
in the queen? Is there anything else I can do?

They're really cute. Watching them fly backwards out of their
entrance is almost as much fun as watching hummingbirds.
