I got my first copy of Birds of the Pacific States back in 1961. The person
who gave it to me (a wise bird bander who was working on a special project
on Golden Cr. Sparrows) told me then that I should rely less on the
pictures of a field guide and spend more time reading the text. This is
such a wonderful book and I am always glad when it gets mentioned again. I
have seen in fairly regularly in (good) used bookstores. I have a couple
extra copies which I could probably be talked out of. For a price. (Most of
the bookstores do not realize that this really is a valuable book and worth
more than the 8-10 dollars they have been selling it for. Don't tell them!)
