I am very distressed by the kind of tone being used by some of us on
Tweeters. In a large group of people, there are always differences of
opinion. No one is always going to be completely in agreement. However, it
is possible to disagree with one another without being rude, insulting,
overbearing or self-righteous. The wisest person who ever lived once
said,"Judge not lest you also be judged for the judgement you pass will also
be passed on you." Or better yet,"Do as you would be done by."
To give you an example, most of us tweeters care a great deal about animals.
We don't want anyone to abuse birds. Yet, the people at PAWS and HOWL and
PETA think people who put up bird feeders are abusive to animals because
they encourage them to rely on human sources for food and spread disease by
bringing birds too close together. Frankly I think this is a poorly thought
out argument (birds are foragers & will find forage wherever and whenever
they can and also frequently feed together at the same food sources) but
they hold it vigorous and tell people who call them not to do it.
