August 15, 1999, Sunday, 11:31 p.m. Hi, this is Sam Terry, (206) 329-9038.
Today at Crockett Lake on Whidbey Island there was 2 to 4 juvenile BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, about 6 juvenile RED-NECKED PHALAROPES and a couple
SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

August 17, 1999, Tuesday, 4:47 p.m. Oh, hi, this is Steve Pink, phone
number (425) 649-0601. A couple of belated reports on a Sunday in the
company of Andy Stepniewski, Jim Flynn, Steven Jackson, Claire, Ben Feltman,
and Paul Couzens. Went to Mount Rainier, up Fremont Mountain, and there we
found the WHITE-TAILED PTARMIGAN, two of them, and we also saw 2 ROSY
FINCHES by Frozen Lake. Later that day, at cliff (garbled), we found a
BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER and al+so later on in the day at Wenas Lake there
was a SURF SCOTER. On Monday, the 16th of August on Whidbey Island with
Steve and I, Steven Jackson and Claire, on Hastie Lake Road there was a
BROWN PELICAN flying off-shore and at Crockett Lake a PEC SANDPIPER, several
SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS, 50 or so SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS and a WILSON'S

August 19, 1999, Thursday, 10:58 p.m. Hello, this is Dave Beaudette at
(206) 365-2083. Spent several hours on the morning of the 19th of August
sitting on the dike at the Jensen Access to the Skagit Wildlife Area in
Skagit County, and saw a few good birds. Off to the west along the
shoreline feeding there was a single GREAT EGRET, several GREAT BLUE HERONS
were in the vicinity. Also along the shoreline off the Jensen Access was a
juvenile northern (sic) PHALAROPE and on the bay with the CANADA GEESE was a
single adult SNOW GOOSE. That's all.

August 20, 1999, Friday, 1:34 a.m. Hello, this is Scott Atkinson with a
report for the morning of August 19th. At Spencer Island a fair number of
shorebirds. Highlights: 20 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, mostly post-breeding
plumaged adult birds, 15 SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER and
a migrant LAZULI BUNTING. That's it.

August 21, 1999, Saturday, 1:57 p.m. Hi, this is Martha Taylor, (206)
523-4677, reporting on a trip in Okanogan County on Monday, August 16th. In
the Bonaparte Lake area, we looked for the GREAT GRAY OWL and didn't find
it, but we did get a great look at an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK that was
calling back and forth to another HAWK that we couldn't see as well. We
also saw 2 COMMON LOONS on Bonaparte. Thanks. In Ferry County the next
day, south of Republic on the 13 mile trail, we saw a WHITE-HEADED
WOODPECKER, PYGMY NUTHATCHES, RED CROSSBILLS and similar birds. Good luck
