the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR

Wind SW 15-20; Temp 60F


Method: 30 minute station count at 100m west of "3 rocks" on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: Visibility toward the ocean was under 2km, consequently the
count was shortened to 30min. BROWN PELICANS were foraging on the
surf off Clatsop Beach to the south in large numbers. Most notable
was the lack of birds, given the calmness to the ocean.
