Well, I didn't want to get involved in another acrimonius thread but I am
little bit irritated by Michelle's tirade. Don wasn't excluded for his
beliefs vis-a-vis creation and evolution but for his manner of expressing
them. Freedom doesn't getting to do everything you want to do in whatever
way you want to do it. If you yell fire in a crowded theater when there is
no fire, you can be arrested for malicious mischief. You cannot carry a
loaded weapon into a court room. You can't share on a newsgroup if you break
the listmaster's rules. This list is about birds. Birds bring in a very
mixed bag of birders, each with their own agenda. We all deserve not to be
derided for our opinions and/or beliefs (For example, I don't believe one
should use and/or in a sentence and I just did!)
Just for the record, many religious people are afraid secular people are
going to make laws to deny them the practice of their religion (They are
very sincere in this fear, whether it is real or not). Many secular people
are afraid religious people will force their religion on them. Tweeters
can't and shouldn't be the place to try and settle this.
