Hello Tweeters,
I was so fortune on Monday driving back to Jack Pass to get my Photos of
the Black Petaltail Dragonflie.
I had to due a little bit kind of Rock climbing to get close to the first
Dragonflie. I was standing in one smal spot for as long than 2 hours to get
my Photos real close up. When i was standing there i witnessed a rare
occasion to see a female Black Petaltail digging in to the ground what
containd of Mud-Rocks and some kind of smal bunch Grasses digging in to
release her egggs. As she was doing so in (me watching) onother male came
and carried her of high in to the trees for onother breeding. This was
going on fife times. A ccording to Dennis this was never wittnessed.(this i
din't know at the time) I was so fascinated seeing this behavier also
trying to catch ONE FEMALE for putting on Dennis Web-page on Dragonflies.
There was never a female collected (infact there are usual not even
seeing)I did get a female Black Petaltail and also trying to photograph
one, but standing in such risky position i was to afraid i might fall doing
so. After we scanned the verry much alive female, I came home to photograph
this rare to get species
Nothing is so rewarding to see an event like this. Driving twice 250 miles
for one species of Dragonflies.
