Hi folks,

I apologize for This message being a bit late, but when I read Eric
Kraig's note about the Brown Pelican at the Nisqually Reach, and
Libor's note about the pelicans being seen off the West Coast of
Vancouver Island, it jogged my memory.

The Pacific Salmon Commission charters a purse seine vessel in
"Canadian Fishing Area 20" near Port Renfrew (I'd have to get in
touch with their fishery biologist to find out the exact location) to do
test fishing for research; collecting stock composition and abundance
data on Fraser River sockeye and pink salmon.

Their on-board observer noted on Thursday August 19th:
"10 Pelicans observed flying towards Carmanah".

How far north along the WCVI coast do Brown Pelicans disperse?

Best,

Jon. Anderson
