Herb--

Jim Pruske knows a volunteer at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge who
counted 26 eagles attacking the heron rookery on McAlister
Creek. He said the eagles cleaned it out..mostly predating on
the nestlings.

the population of GBH's seems way down out there..

and related to that there was a story in the local paper
that the a trestle type bridge out at Woodard Bay burned
recently..police think fire is suspicious and some local
wildlife guys were quoted as saying it might have a
significant effect on the eco system out there..burning
creosote, stuff in the water from fighting the fire..
they apparently couldn't get at the fire and had to call
in the Tacoma fireboats.. there was a substantial colony
of bats under that bridge..

there is/was a GBH heronry out there.

anyone got an update on that?
