I'm not certain where you are referring to, but if it's Nisqually, earlier
this year a whole bunch..in the twenties, at least, of bald eagles came in
and cleaned out the Great Blue Herons. Jim Pruske kept an eye on the
proceedings and did counts and found that the herons had been just about
wiped out. My husband and I were at Nisqually on one of those days, and
completely unawares of what was going on, were amazed at the number of eagles
we saw that day. It had to have been at least 18...I don't have my notes in
front of me, but it was more than I've ever seen before at one time. THey
were mostly juveniles.
However, on my trips to Yakima, (weekly for the last two and half months)
I've never failed to see them in the Canyon.(herons, that is, as well as bald
eagles.)
