Saw Ruddy ducks for the first time, where the Colville River comes into
Lake Roosevelt (at the end of the gravel road turnaround past picnic
area). I've seen them this week but could not recognize them without a
scope- too far off. Diving ducks, the males are very dark now in winter
phase, with the scope I could see the uplifted tail and white rear end.
It was great to finally figure out this mystery. They have been swimming
around in the waves. The water is going down - about 6 feet off the end
of the bank now, islands getting bigger. Also lots of flocks of Canadian
geese taking off there right before sunset.
