Subject: Weather/bird fallout advisory
Date: Aug 29 18:05:32 1999
From: Mike Patterson - mpatters at oregonvos.net

The following statement comes from the National Weather Service:

>Statement as of 1:59 pm PDT on August 29, 1999
>
>...Cool And Unsettled Conditions Through Midweek...
>
>A major change in the weather can be expected during the next two or
three
>days. An unseasonably cold air mass is expected to move into
>southwest Washington and northwest Oregon Monday. Snow levels in The
Cascades >will lower to about 5000 feet by Monday afternoon and remain
near pass levels >Tuesday. Significant accumulations are not
expected...but campers and hikers
>need to be aware of the abrupt change in conditions.
>
>The air mass will also be rather unstable. Thus...thunderstorms will be
>possible Monday over the coastal areas and inland valleys. A
>return to Summer-like conditions is expected later this week.

This could mean good birding during and just after mid-week. There is
at least the potential for shorebird fallout, if not passerines.

Mike Patterson The common view of science is that it is a sort of machine
Astoria, OR for increasing the race's store of dependable facts.
mpatters at oregonvos.net It is that only in part; in even larger part
it is a machine for upsetting undependable facts.
