Hi Tweets,
A few bird notes from Vashon and Maury Is. today: At the Dockton Marina on
Maury Is., a Clark's Grebe in a flock of 200-300 Westerns, and one Eared
Grebe. Both were a couple hundred yards south of the boat launch area. On
Vashon Is. along Ellisport Rd. about a half mile east of Vashon Way was a
flock of about 40 Red Crossbills, including a few still in an immature,
brown and streaked plumage. The crossbills were feeding avidly in
Douglas-firs. Hundreds of Pine Siskins in the woods above Heyer Pt. At the
Fauntleroy ferry terminal at 7:45 a.m., an immature Peregrine half-heartedly
swooping at feral pigeons right above the line of cars, then perching on a
light standard above the westbound lanes.
