Hello Tweets,

Today my mother and I birded eastern Grays Harbor Co. in the Elma-Brady
areas, with scattered rain showers and partial sunbreaks at times. We
started N of Elma, along N.Blockhouse Rd, off of Hwy.12, in search of the
Rusty Blackbird, with NO LUCK, after 3 attempts throughout the day. Species
that were noted along this road included: 1 COMMON REDPOLL, with 60 Pine
Siskins(at the east end of N.Blockhouse Rd), 1 tan-striped WHITE THROATED
SPARROW, 1 SHORT-EARED OWL, 4 TUNDRA SWANS, 120 MOURNING DOVES, 2
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, and 1 TOWNSEND'S WARBLER. At Vance Creek County
Park a second-winter WESTERN GULL was observed, and just west of the park
along Wenzel Slough Rd., 3 RED-THROATED LOONS(a record number for inland
Grays Harbor Co.), 1 CANVASBACK, and 1 WESTERN GREBE were all observed in
association with 89 RING-NECKED DUCKS, and both scaups, and at the
intersection of Keys Rd. and Wenzel Slough Rd, a flock of 14 TUNDRA SWANS
were noted flying east towards Elma. We also birded along Brady Loop Rd.,
and Foster Rd.(accessed off of Monte-Brady Loop Rd.), where notable
highlights included: 1 adult ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 1 AM.KESTREL, 2 tan-striped
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, 8 TRUMPETER SWANS, 1 GR.WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 1
BONEAPARTE'S GULL, and 2 shorebird flocks with one flock in a corn stubble
field along Foster Rd, consisting of 84 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 1
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, 385 DUNLIN, and 2 WESTERN SANDPIPERS. The other
flock, further east along Brady Loop Rd., which included 42 BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVERS, and 78 DUNLIN.

Good Birding,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
