This is the Vancouver, B.C. Bird Alert for Sunday, December 5, 9:50 pm
update.

Featured birds are COMMON REDPOLL, and HARRIS'S SPARROW.

Sightings for Sunday, December 5

A total of 12 COMMON REDPOLLS were tallies in the Cora Brown area of Sea
Island. A BARN OWL was also sighted.

Single BLACK OYSTERCATCHER'S were reported from Stanley Park's 2nd Beach
and the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty.

Pitt Meadows was the location for a HARRIS'S SPARROW, a SNOW BUNTING, a
NORTHERN SHRIKE, and 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS.

Saturday, December 4

A single COMMON REDPOLL was spotted along Sea Islands MacDonald Rd. Two
GREAT HORNED OWLS were also seen in this area. From the Cora Brown Area
came the report of a WILSON'S WARBLER.

At Reifel were an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW and a NORTHERN SHRIKE. Also seen
on a different part of Westham Island were a blue phase SNOW GOOSE, and a
MERLIN.

Brunswick Point reported in with 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS and a NORTHERN SHRIKE..

Friday, December 3

Although a search behind the UBC Museum of Anthropology did not relocate
the SCARLET TANAGER it did produce 3 COMMON REDPOLL and near by at the
trail head for Tower Beach off SW Marine Dr. was an adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK.

Another 6 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen on Sea Island's Grauer Rd. just east of
MacDonald.

Thursday, December 2

A tan morph WHITE-THROATED SPARROW has been frequenting a feeder in 48800
block of Elkview Rd. in Chilliwack.

The WILLET has again been relocated, this time at the base of the Robert's
Bank Jetty.

Wednesday, December 1

A bird which is thought to have been a SCARLET TANAGER was seen behind the
UBC Museum of Anthropology.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was at Tamboline & Westham Island Rd.

Reported from the Reifel Refuge were NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL, 2 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT HERON, a EURASIAN WIGEON and a SWAMP SPARROW near the observation
tower.

A PEREGRINE was observed at the foot of the Robert's Bank Jetty.

Two BARN OWLS were reported from Sea Island near MacDonald Beach.

A male ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD was seen frequenting a feeder in the Eagle
Harbour area of West Vancouver.
