Northeastern Oregon bird hotline for Friday, Dec 10 (1999). This hotline,

A PINE WARBLER, possibly Idaho's first state record, is visiting a feeder
in Moscow, Latah Co, ID. The bird has been present at the feeder of Bettie
and Ray Hoff, 907 East 7th Street, since Tuesday, and was seen by several
birders today. The bird frequents a feeder on the south side of the house,
particularly in the morning. Look for it around the southeast corner of 7th
Street and Hayes. The Hoff's have also have had a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW
visiting their feeders for the past couple of weeks. The Hoff's are happy
to have birders visit but if you are coming from a distance you might want

A SNOWY OWL has returned to the usual haunt near Moses Lake, according to
Randy Hill. At least one owl has wintered here for the past several years.
From Moses Lake, take I-90 east to the WA 17 exit. At the first traffic
ight north of the interstate (there's a Shiloh Inn, AM/PM store, and
McDonalds there) turn right onto Kittleson Road. Follow it about a mile
until it ends at Road L NE. Turn left and head north on L NE watching both
sides of the road for the next 2 miles. WA DeLorme 69, CD-6.5

A first-year GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL was at Higgins Point on Lake Coeur
d'Alene, CdA, Kootenai Co ID on Dec 1 according to Stephen Lindsey. The
bird was near the boat launch ramp at the end of Coeur d'Alene Lake Drive.
There are also tremendous numbers of BALD EAGLES in Wolf Lodge Bay at the
east end of the lake. ID DeLorme 60, B-2.

Look for at least 1 WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and an immature HARRIS'S SPARROW
at Madame Dorianne Park just north of the jct of US 12 and US 730 in
western Walla Walla Co WA. The white-throateds have been around for about a
month. The Harris's for about a week. Mike and MerryLynn Denny toss bird
seed on the old road south of the bathroom. Use your car as a blind and the
birds hop out and feed. WA DeLorme 40, D-1.

Just north of the park, a EURASIAN WIGEON was near the Iowa Dodd Beef
Slaughter House today, Dec 10 according to the Denny's. To get to the bird,
go about 3 miles north of the jct of US 12 and US 730 along US 12 and head
east on Iowa Dodd Road. Just past the slaughter house, take the first right
on the old rail bed to the ponds that are loaded with waterfowl. WA DeLorme

Two adult MEW GULLS were at Ice Harbor Dam in northwestern Walla Walla Co
WA today Dec 10. Mike and MerryLynn report the birds were below the dam.
Take US 12 south from Pasco, across the Snake River, and turn east on WA
124, and go about 4 miles to the dam entrance. Also there were 3
GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS and a GLAUCOUS X WESTERN HYBRID. WA DeLorme 40, BC-1.
