A few days ago my wife spotted a rufous hummingbird in our back yard which
was a big surprise as we've never had them this late. I scrambled to get my
feeder up. Soon the fellow had returned and drank for a long time from the
feeder. This morning when I looked out my window onto the back yard I saw 2
rufous hummers sitting in our flowering cheery tree.

Also, just below them, on the pyracantha bush, was only the 2nd varied
thrush I've had this winter.
