My cousin in Los Banos CA just told me that the flock of magpies that live
in her backyard have been joined by a small parrot! The parrot has hooked up
with the magpies, roosting with them and learning the ins and outs of
"country" living. The parrot watched the magpies taking walnuts from the
trees, flying up over the street and dropping the walnut so it cracks when
it hits the pavement.Aflter a few failed attempts the parrot got the hang of
walnut cracking!The magpies don't seem to mind their new , very un-magpie
looking friend.
