Charles,
We in Eastern Washington don't consider you being too picky or technical,
just wrong. Eastern Washington is the part of Washington east of the
Cascade crest. There are several areas that are part of Eastern Washington
and the area that Michael birded in might be termed north central Washington
though they certainly could have gone further north and still been in north
central Washington. Michael might have been perfectly to have said:
"We took a birding trip to Eastern Washington but not all the way
east but quite a ways east but not so far east that we worried about getting
lost in Idaho which would have been a little north of central Idaho but not
all the ways north so that we would have worried about getting hijacked or
shot or beat up by those weirdos in north Idaho so we stayed in central
Eastern Washington but not exactly in the central part but a little ways
north of that which would just be easier to describe as Eastern Washington
because nearly everyone knows just about where I am talking about."
So there.
