Tweeters,

"Extreme examples"-- boy, you aren't kidding, Michael!! If I ever
thought I had seen a Tufted Puffin in Spokane, I wouldn't tell anyone
about it-- not if I valued my reputation as a birder-- and I would
promptly proceed to have either my eyeglasses checked out, or my head
checked out, or both! :-) :-)

>Tweets -- Just in time for the CBC season...
>
>I've added a Rare Bird report form to allow web-based reporting of
Washington
>rare birds. The form is transmitted via email to Phil Mattocks with
the
>Washington Bird Records Committee.
>
>The form can be found on the Washington Ornithological Society
website at
>http://www.wos.org
>
>The purpose of the Washington Bird Records Committee is to expand our
knowledge
>of the range and distribution (including changes over time) of bird
species in
>Washington State by examining documented reports of birds. While the
>distribution of common birds is fairly well known, there is a quite
extensive
>list of species for which reports are requested. These "review
species" are
>italicized in the Checklist of Washington Birds, also available on
the WOS
>website.
>
>The Washington Bird Records Committee would also be interested in
reports of
>more common birds that are out-of-season or outside their normal
ranges -- for
>extreme examples, a winter sighting of a Black-headed Grosbeak or a
Spokane
>sighting of a Tufted Puffin should be reported.
>
>If you have any problems with the form, please let me know.
