The only real English name within 8 characters is Ural Owl, which could
probably be written URAL_OWL for your server. It's not a North American
bird, though.

When you get to the V's, there are Veery, and Verdin, both North American
birds.

In the W's: Waldrapp, Weebill, and Weka, none of which are North American
birds, but all are accepted English names.

You are out of luck in the X's, Y's and Z's, unless you want to use Latin
names.
