It was overcast and foggy today but we still went out this afternoon
to look for the "white hawk" and couldn't find it.

We did see a juvenile Northern Goshawk making a couple of strafing
runs on some California Quail. It is really fast! It made a 180 degree
turn so quick I thought it was another bird going in the opposite
direction. It landed on a fence post and let us get a good look at it.
It left and came back again buzzing some mallards on a small pond and
then landed in the middle of a pine tree.

Within a 100 yard radius from where we got out of the car and within a
20 min. period we also saw:

Mallard 48
Northern Harrier 1
Northern Flicker 4
Ring-necked Pheasant 1
Pine Siskin 8
Black-capped Chickadee 2
Townsend's Solitaire 1
Junco 2
House Sparrow 11
