Hi Tweeters,
I just received a message from Don McCall. He watched the Eurasian
Kestrel here on the Samish Flats for about a half-hour at around 1 pm
Christmas Day. He reports that the bird was sitting on a fencepost along
Bayview -Edison Road a mile south of the T. I'm heading out for a look now.
At the risk of offending everyone, I'd like to request that we all give
this bird an extra amount of room and minimize any disturbance that might
drive it out. Stuff like chasing it around for better looks or photos.
Getting so close that you flush it. Moving it away from its hunting areas.
In that way, perhaps it will stay there long enough for everyone to see
it and for all of us to learn more about its behavior. For example, I am
really curious to see how long it stays.
Merry Christmas and thank you Don,
