I spent about an hour and a half searching for the little gull this
morning from Harry Todd Park. Luck was not on my side today. I saw alot
of BONAPARTE'S sitting and a few flying near Silcox Island, but could
not put the dark underwings on any of them. Later I went searching for
the SLATY-BACKED GULL. Thought I had it. But the eye seemed too dark and
there was no smudge. It was dark backed, had no marks or streaking in
the head, breast, or nape. I'll assume it to be a WESTERN GULL. I missed
it taking off, due to the distraction of the police car heading my way.
Thought i'd be doing some explaining, but they drove on by. The only
interesting birds to note where 3 SNOW GEESE next to the road. 1 adult
and 2 juvs. I'll give the little gull a try tomorrow.
