This is the Vancouver, B.C. Bird Alert for Sunday, December 26, 10:55 pm
update.

Rare bird alert continues for the BLACK and WHITE WARBLER.

Sightings for Sunday, December 26

The BLACK and WHITE WARBLER was seen today near the picnic area west of #7
Rd. on River Road. Near this location was a SPOTTED SANDPIPER.

Two SANDHILL CRANES was observed near a children's play area near Martin
and Westham Island Rd.

Saturday, December 25

The BLACK and WHITE WARBLER was reported from various locations along River
Road from west of savage to the Picnic area west of #7 Rd.

A HORNED LARK was reported from Blackie Spit.

Colony Farm was the location of 2 GREAT HORNED OWLS, a NORTHERN SHRIKE and
a COOPER'S HAWK.

A walk along the Sea Island dike from the causeway to Shannon Rd. resulted
in the sighting of 2 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS, 2 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS, a
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and 8 to 10 COMMON REDPOLLS.

Four CRESTED MYNAS were seen on Spyglass Pl. which is just west of the
Cambie ST. Bridge.

Thirteen BLACK TURNSTONES were reported near Stanley Park's 3rd Breach.

Friday, December 24

The BLACK & WHITE WARBLER was seen near the picnic area west of #7 Rd. &
River Rd. in Richmond. Most observers have remarked that the bird has been
feeding low in the trees. The bird usually is in the company of a large
flock of Chickadees and Kinglets.

The CATTLE EGRET was observed near a barn on the NW corner of Tamboline &
Westham Isl. Rds. The PRAIRIE FALCON was sighted in a tree near the end of
34th Ave. in Delta. Two immature NORTHERN GOSHAWKS were reported from the
Reifel Refuge.

Thursday, December 23

The BLACK & WHITE WARBLER was reported from several locations along River
Rd., both east and west of Savage Rd.

Twenty-three BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were seen at the mouth of North
Vancouver's Cypress Creek. Another 7 were observed near Stanley Park's
Second Beach.

Wednesday, December 22

The BLACK and WHITE WARBLER was seen near the picnic area west of #7 Rd.
and River Rd.

A CRESTED MYNA was observed in Vancouver near the intersection of 7th and
Columbia.

The Reifel Refuge reported in with the sightings of the immature NORTHERN
GOSHAWK, a SWAMP SPARROW and a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL.

Tuesday, December 21

The BLACK and WHITE WARBLER was seen on the northside of River Rd near the
intersection of Savage Rd. and River Rd. in Richmond.

On the CBC in Whistler a record number of 56 species was tallied. Notable
finds were a WESTERN MEADOWLARK, a BOHEMIAN WAXWING, a NORTHERN SHRIKE,
and several COMMON REDPOLLS.
