Tweets,

Did some afternoon birding at Seattle's Montlake Fill today and saw a
REDHEAD duck on the small protected bay adjacent to the Fill. It was
swimming and diving with a group of 6 or 7 CANVASBACKS. It stayed on the
outskirts of the protected bay until a kayaker came and flushed the group
out towards the SR 520 bridge. The redhead had noticeably darker sides
compared to the canvasbacks. It also had a white stripe on its bill and
lacked the sloped profile of the canvasbacks.

Surprisingly no herons or raptors were seen and very few sparrows. Four
or five YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER (Audubon) were feeding on the ground.
Other waterfowl seen include:

mallards
gadwalls
green-winged teal
Eurasian green-winged teal
Am. wigeons
shovelers
ruddy ducks
ring-necked ducks
lesser scaups
buffleheads
common merganser (one male)
