Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday December 30. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

On December 23 an EURASIAN COLLARED DOVE was seen in the Canemah section
of Oregon City. It could not be relocated. A HOODED ORIOLE was observed
in Brookings December 29. The BLUE JAY at Sisters continues to be seen.

On December 26 a flock of 24 HORNED LARKS, many LAPLAND LONGSPURS, and 21
WESTERN BLUEBIRDS were seen on the Port Orford Count. A CLAY-COLORED
SPARROW was in Gold Beach December 24.

Two EMPEROR GEESE were in the triangle of the South Jetty of the Umpqua
River December 22. The 3 Tillamook Bay EMPERORS continue to be seen along
Hwy 101 at Kilches Meadows, south of Bay City. On December 25 six
TRUMPETER SWANS were along Wireless Road, near Astoria. A RED-SHOULDERED
HAWK was at Brownsmead, east of Astoria December 29.

TREE SWALLOWS were reported during the week from the Fernhill Wetlands,
Baskett Slough NWR, near Junction City, and from Medford. A BARN SWALLOW
was with the Medford flock.

ON December 27 a HARRIS'S SPARROW was seen along Rentenaar Road on Sauvie
Island. The PALM WARBLER continues to be seen along 33d Avenue in North
Portland. Up to 21 SNOW GEESE have been in the Forest Grove area, but
only one could be found for the December 26 Count there. Two TRUMPETER
SWANS and a CLARK'S GREBE were recorded.

The LARK SPARROW continues to be seen in Minto-Brown Park in Salem. On
December 23 an OLDSQUAW was on the Boise Cascade Ponds near the park. The
119th. street BURROWING OWL east of Salem, and the CATTLE EGRET along
Howell Prairie Road northeast of Salem continue to be seen.

A SAY'S PHOEBE is now being seen near Silverton along Riches Road near
the Victor Point Fire Station. The December 28 Dallas Count found a
BARRED OWL, a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, and 2 CHIPPING SPARROWS. Two
CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS are now being seen with a CHIPPING SPARROW along
Stellmacher Drive, east of Albany. The Airlie Count recorded a HARRIS'S
SPARROW, a YELLOWTHROAT, and a very unusual SWAINSON'S THRUSH. The TREE
SPARROW is still being seen along Pugh Road, north of Halsey. A ROSS'S
GOOSE was at Finley NWR December 25.

Up to 40 GREAT EGRETS and 2 WHITE PELICANS are wintering at Fern Ridge
Reservoir. On December 29 a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was seen there.

The December 18 Klamath Falls Count noted 4 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, 2
VULTURES, and a LESSER YELLOWLEGS.

On December 23, after a frosty, foggy night, a WESTERN GREBE was found in
a barnyard near Fossil.

COMMON REDPOLLS and BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS continue to be seen in northeast
Oregon.
