Today I helped with the Chelan CBC. Our next-to-the last bird of the day
was a Northern Hawk Owl. See Delorme, p. 83, A-8. The bird was in an
orchard up Purtteman Gulch Rd, on left side. It is just past a black
mailbox that is labeled #9l P.G. Rd. We flagged both sides of the road with
orange tape. We first saw it on the power pole that has two small
round"transformers" on it. But it also flew to one of the wind machines,
another power pole, a tree, and back to first pole. We saw it between
3:50and 4:05 p.m. Beautiful bird that totally surprised us. Meredith
