Sightings for Thursday, December 30
Visitors to the Reifel Refuge today were treated with views of up to 48
COMMON REDPOLLS. Also reported were 2 immature NORTHERN GOSHAWKS, a
NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL, and 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS.

The PRAIRIE FALCON was observed near dusk returning to roost in trees near
the end of 34th in Delta.

The Tsawwassen Jetty was the location for the WILLET, near the base of the
jetty and 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS about half way out on the Jetty.

Five SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen at the foot of 41B in Delta.

Two EARED GREBES were sighted from the White Rock Pier.


Wednesday, December 29
The BLACK and WHITE WARBLER was seen along River Rd. between Savage and the
picnic area west of No. 7 Rd. The bird has been found most often near the
picnic area. Most observers have remarked that the bird has been feeding
low in the trees. The bird usually is in the company of a large flock of
Chickadees and Kinglets.

Twelve BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were observed near the foor of Stearnman Ave.
in West Vancouver.

A MERLIN was reported from Boundary Bay Regional Park.

On Sea Island several hundred metres NE along the dike from the end of the
Iona Sea Island Causeway were several COMMON REDPOLLS, and 2 AMERICAN TREE
SPARROWS. Further along the dike were 2 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS and a
SHORT-EARED OWL. Three BARN OWLS were sighted in the Cora Brown Area.


Tuesday, December 28
Four GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 130 BRANT were located at Beach Grove Lagoon.

Four SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen along 72nd St. and a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was
spotted on 56th north of Hwy #17.


Monday, December 27
The provisional total for the Ladner CBC was 139 including highlights of an
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, good numbers of LINCOLN'S
SPARROWS, 4 or 5 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS, COMMON REDPOLLS, an immature
NORTHERN GOSHAWK, a WESTERN SCREECH-OWL and a WILLET.

The BLACK and WHITE WARBLER was reported from River Rd.

A HERRING GULL was seen from the Stanley Park Seawall west of Lumberman's
Arch and an AMERICAN DIPPER was seen in the creek feeding out of the Beaver
Pond.


Sunday, December 26
The BLACK and WHITE WARBLER was seen near the picnic area west of #7 Rd. on
River Road. Near this location was a SPOTTED SANDPIPER.

Two SANDHILL CRANES was observed near a children's play area near Martin
and Westham Island Rd.
