Hello Tweets,

Today I birded at the South Port Orchard Airport in Kitsap Co., where I
mainly searched for MOUNTAIN QUAIL, which I successfully heard and observed
12 birds along the west side of the airport, in Scotch Broom, and other low
brush. While walking along the westside fenceline at 9:15am, I noted a
single PALM WARBLER, as it called constantly, probably in agitation to the
combination of my "pishing", and the Audubon Bird Call. The bird was well
seen, mainly in the Scotch Broom thickets, and nearby brambles, despite the
fairly constant drizzle, and moderate wind present during my visit. Upon my
return to the same location 20 minutes later, the bird was seen in the open
field surrounded by Scotch Broom as it called regularly by itself during
all observations, so the bird probably moves around, but the best way in
locating the bird would be to listen for its call a somewhat sharp, liquid
chip note. Scouting at the northend of the airport, in the forested area, a
MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was seen in a large, mixed flock of both kinglets, C.B.,
and B.C.Chickadees, Bushtits, and a single Brown Creeper, and Hutton's
Vireo. Hopefully these birds will repeat there appearance tomorrow on the
Kitsap CBC.
