11:00pm update. The featured birds for this evenings report are:

ROSS'S GOOSE
GLAUCOUS GULL and
CRESTED MYNAH

A ROSS'S GOOSE has been present for at least two months with CANADA GEESE in
Como Lake in Coquitlam. A white domestic goose also present there.

One GLAUCOUS GULL in second winter plumage was in a large flock of gulls at
Burn's Drive at 96th street Delta.

Two CRESTED MYNAH'S were at 2nd Ave and Wylie, Vancouver.

Twelve BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were in the vicinity of the mouth of Cypress
Creek west Vancouver and another BLACK OYSTERCATCHER was along the south
side of the Tswwassen ferry jetty.

One MARBLED GODWIT is still at Blackie Spit.


Saturday January 30th 1999

The PRAIRIE FALCON was seen at Brunswick Point in the late afternoon.

One HERMIT THRUSH was in the 900 block of Clements, North Vancouver.

Three SHORT-EARED OWLS and one WESTERN MEADOWLARK were along the Boundary
Bay dyke between 22nd and 64th Street. Another SORT-EARED OWL was along the
dyke at the foot of 41B street Delta.

There was a report of a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE in the 1100 block of Emerson Way
North Vancouver.

Five BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were along the Stanley Park seawall half way
between the bridge and Sywash Rock.

There was a late report of a WESTERN GULL and an immature GALUCOUS GULL with
a large number of gulls along Burns Drive west of 96th Street Delta.

On Friday of last week there were no reports.


Wednesday January 27th

The adult SLATY-BACKED GULL was again in a very large gull flock of gulls
this morning along Burn's Drive near 88th, Delta.

Still in Delta a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE has been visiting a peanut feeder at
6590 Kempses Cr. (spelling?) for two weeks. Birders may watch the feeder on
the right side of the house by looking over the gate, but please do not
enter the yard.


Tuesday January 26 1999.

The adult SLATY-BACKED GULL was with large gull flock of gulls this morning
along Burn's Drive near 88th St.

The PRAIRIE FALCON was near the foot of 34th street.

A GYR FALCON was along highway 17 between 52nd street and Splashdown Park

The eastern BLUE JAY was in the neighborhood of Inglewood Place and Ivywood
Place. All of these locations for the SLATY-BACKED GULL, the PRAIRIE, GYR
FALCON and BLUE JAY are in Delta.

A SHORT-EARED OWL was at Boundary Bay Regional Park, Tswwassen.

Four EARED GREBES were off the White Rock west beach.
