Every year all winter long.

I'm fastening the suet differently this year. It's hooked firmly to the
ends of the beams on a pergola. It allows the birds to walk right up to the
suet on the tops of the beams. Since I made this change the ground feeders
are now feeding on the suet directly instead of waiting for the crumbs that
fall to the ground. Much more enjoyable to watch although the suet
consumption is setting records.
