I hit Central Park and the Brooklyn Botanical gardens every year. Tufted titmice, white-throated sparrows, and the 'redbirds' of my childhood. I llike the Ramble especially- and almost always find a local birder to hang out with. Cool to see a New York birder laugh out loud at the sight of the first red-winged blackird of the year. He thought our delight in the tufted titmice was charming, too.
I saw my very first wood-duck in a pond in the Brooklyn Botanical gardens.
Check out the chickadees there- they have accents....
