This is the Vancouver, B.C. Bird Alert for Friday, February 5th, 9:30 pm
update.

Featured birds are Slaty-backed Gull and Harris's Sparrow.

Sightings for Friday, February 5th
The HARRIS'S SPARROW was reported at the backyard feeders of 2564 W 12th in
Vancouver. The bird is also frequenting neighboring feeders. The bird may
be viewed from the laneway behind this residence.

Two different GLAUCOUS GULLS were reported from the Tilbury region of Delta
off 68th. One was reported as an adult the other 2nd winter bird.


Thursday, February 4th
A ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was reported from Iona. Also at Iona on the logs
in the Fraser River north of the ponds was a GLAUCOUS GULL.
The ROSS'S GOOSE was observed swimming close to shore with CANADA'S at
Coquitlam's Como Lake. Also seen at this location was a REDHEAD.

At the foot of 12th at Boundary Bay Regional Park were 2 MARBLED GODWIT.

A GLAUCOUS and WESTERN GULL were spotted in a large gull roost near Burns
Dr. & 68th.

At the foot of 41B in Delta were a PEREGRINE and near by an AMERICAN
KESTREL.


Sightings for Wednesday, February 3rd
The ROSS'S GOOSE was seen at Como Lake Park in Coquitlam.

The SLATY-BACKED GULL along with 5 WESTERN GULLS were in a large flock of
gulls at Burns Rd. & 96th in Delta.

An EARED GREBE was observed from the White Rock Pier.

A MERLIN was seen at the East end of Tynehead Park.

Out of town was a BLUE JAY on Bowen Island, approx. 200 yd. North of the
Legion. This bird has been present for an extended period of time and is
generally seen daily. The SAY'S PHOEBE is still been seen near Duncan on
Vancouver Island. Also in Nanaimo a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER has been seen.

Four BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were seen in Stanley Park near Siwash Rock.


Monday, February 1st
Four EURASIAN WIGEON, a LONG-BILLED CURLEW and a MARBLED GODWIT were
present at Blackie Spitt.

Another MARBLED GODWIT was seen at Boundary Bay Regional Park in
Tsawwassen.

A PERGRINE FALCON was observed at the base of the Roberts Bank Jetty.

The BLUE JAY was reported from the Inglewood and Ivywood
Place neighborhood in Delta.


Sunday, January 31 st
The ROSS'S GOOSE was reported with CANADA GEESE at Como Lake in Coquitlam..

One GLAUCOUS GULL in second winter plumage was in a large flock of gulls at
Burn's Drive at 96th street Delta.

Two CRESTED MYNAH'S were at 2nd Ave and Wylie, Vancouver.
