Hi Lydia and Tweeters

Ring necked ducks - yes, they are beautiful. Once I learned to
recognize them, it took a lwhile before I saw many of them. -usually
winter time., but not onsistant as to where.
The 'old fishing hole' had ring necked duck there on 1=24=99, so maybe
he is hanging out there for the winter.

Strange looking widgeons. - I used to go down hwy 101, slong Hood canal,
birding. A little town called Lilliwup, has an estuary with a flock of
mixed ducks that seem to be year round residents. There are both
mallards and widgeons. Some are strangly marked. - I think some are
crosses between mallard and widgeon light tanish brwon with that light
crown/stripe on the top of the head like a wdgeon.

If ever find a friend with a color scanner, I could post some of these
odd colored ducks for ever one to see. I am not set up to get and use
a scanner.

Also, if you went to the three crabs restaurant in sequim in december,
you would have seen some of the same kind of markings in the huge flock
of widgeons there. Others on tweets have posted about widgeon crosses,
american and eurasian.

Enjoy birding!
