Hi Tweeters,

We had an exciting "bird day" without leaving our living room. We added
a new bird to our yard list. About 9:30am a COMMON REDPOLL showed up at
the thistle feeder. We have had about one hundred GOLDFINCHES hanging
out here and today three pair of RED CROSSBILLS and the Common Redpoll
came in with them.

There was an unusual assortment of ducks on Crescent Bay Lake. From our
living room window we can ID them (with our scope). Today there was a
CANVASBACK, an AMERICAN WIGEON and several others.

In all we saw twenty-six species from our armchairs.

We also had a visit from Jane Westervelt and Steve Kalloger of Moscow
Idaho. The Red Crossbills were here while they were here, but the Common
Redpoll would not show (it would have been a lifer for them). It did
come about 3:00, shortly after Jane and Steve left. We were glad to show
them some of our favorite local spots.
