Saturday, Feb 6, 7:13 pm. This is Dave Swain (206) 932-6603, reporting on a
Seattle Audubon field trip to the Snohomish area. Found a grey-morph GYRFALCON
the same place one was hanging around a couple of years ago about a mile
toward Monroe from Snohomish on the old Snohomish highway. It's about 6/10ths
of a mile actually past the new bridge they are building. There is a couple of
old snags on the right side of the road and it was bouncing back and forth
between those snags. Good luck.

Saturday, Feb 6, 9:33 pm. Hi, this is Sam Terry (206) 329-9038. Today at the
pullout on Lake Washington Blvd. about even with the base of 50th, just south
of the Stan Fairs pits I had 1 EARED GREBE. That's it. Good luck and good
birding.

Sunday, Feb 7, 1999, 10:15 pm. Hi, this is Jim Flynn at (206) 772-5568. Today
the SLATY-BACKED GULL near Sequim was still present. As reported earlier by
Bob Sunstrum, the bird was with a large flock of gulls including GLAUCOUS-
WINGED, WESTERNS and MEW GULLS. It was just a little bit to the west of where
it was originally seen. If you take Schmuck Rd from the intersection of
Schmuck Rd and Washington Harbor Rd it goes up hill and at the top of the hill
there is a cabbage planting on one side of the road and pasture on the other.
The bird was in the pasture and was seen fairly well, quite close to the road.
And also at Ediz Hook in Port Angeles today there were 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES on
the buttress stones. Thanks, bye bye.

Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, 11:48 am. I'm Bob Sunstrum 762-4327 in Seattle,
reporting for the early part of February from a recently completed tour. A few
birds of interest. There was an immature first winter GLAUCOUS GULL at Ediz
Hook with other large gulls just beyond the Coast Guard entrance gate. I've
also seen the bird earlier or a similar plumage bird in earlier months out
near the fish pens in that area. February 3rd, a very large numbers of
ANCIENT MURRELETS, both from Point Wilson and the Keystone Ferry near Port
Townsend. Easily 500 to 1000 possibly blown in by the winds. Two ROCK
SANDPIPERS also February 3rd with a large flock of ROCKY SANDPIPERS on Penn
Cove on Whidby Island near the old San de Fuca store. February 5th, a
GYRFALCON, immature, brown colored bird near the entrance to Reifel Sanctuary
where there is a tall tree adjacent to the entrance gate, a regular perch
apparently. February 6th, 4 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS and 1 WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW at the Skagit Wildlife Area in the usual area, adjacent to the boat
ramp in the open fields & brushy borders. And finally, redoing a muddled
report from January 26th. A flock of GREY-CROWNED ROSY FINCHES was seen north
of Havilla (?) 1.4 miles north from the church in Havilla hanging around an
old farm building and also seen up and down the road in the vicinity and had
been seen there for the better part of a week so they may still be in the
area. That's all for now.
